  • Mahlkonig are, by all accounts, the leading innovator in coffee grinding. Based in Germany, they produce a range of grinders across espresso and filter, covering on-demand espresso, retail, filter and precision / Lab covering all aspects of the speciality coffee industry.  Further, they design and produce all their own unique burr sets, setting them apart form their competitors.

They have always produced amazing quality grinders, but were propelled into the spotlight by the huge successes of the EK43, with what was an old style spice grinder, and became the model famed for precision grind for espresso and quality control.

Today they boast a catalogue of grinders that excel in each category, including the E65 & E80 s, the E65 & E80 GBW, the EK43 range and the industrial work horse in the VTA-6S, the ultimate grinder for speciality grade roasteries grinding for retail.

  • We have been offering the Mahlkonig range for around 10 years now, and have become extremely knowledgable about their grinders, considering how to advise on suitability and how to support them.

We experience very few technical issues with their grinders, but when they do occur, we usually have the internal knowledge and parts available to solve the majority of issues.  Where this ever becomes more complicated, the UK distributor is highly skilled at supporting their products, which backs up what is an already premium brand.

  • - E65 & E80 s - these grinders are the backbone of their range, and even though they are the entry level, they pack a punch that surpasses most of their competitors even at this point.  As you would expect, they offer two different levels across 65 and 80mm burr sets.  On demand grinding, digital display, three programmable buttons for time based grinding, and produced to an extremely high standard, considering materials and functionality.  They produce extremely fluffy and well distributed grind, and are extremely easy to clean and maintain.  Available in black or white.

    - E65 & E80 GBW - these grinders are the next step in their range, and pretty much set the standard for high end grind by weight espresso grinders.  Just like the non GBW models, they offer two different levels across 65 and 80mm burr sets. Again, they offer on demand grinding, digital display, three programmable buttons for time based grinding.

Further to this, they have a built in scale below the fork that you seat your portafilter in.  Once inserted, the scale auto tares and grinding begins based on the weight you entered into the program. To make them even better, they self learn and correct across multiple usage, refining the accuracy via their program algorithm.  Available in black or white.

    The EK43 Range >

For many the EK43 is the ultimate in precision grinding.  It grinds to a level of uniformity that no other grinder has achieved before, which depending on your requirements, can be applied to espresso, filter and quality control.  Some use the EK as a bar espresso grinder, but this is only really achievable for small volume precision outlets.  The majority use it as a guest espresso grinder, a bar filter grinder, a retail grinder or a QC grinder in a roastery.

    - EK43 C - Standard and Small (Coffee Burrs) - This model comes in either Tall or Short versions with coffee burrs.  *Please note this version cannot be used for espresso, as the range of their coffee burrs are restricted to between course filter (Cafetiere) and fine filter (Kalita etc). *Available in black or white.

    - EK43 T Standard and Small (Turkish Burrs) - This model comes in either Tall or Short versions with coffee burrs.  *Please note this version cannot be used for the coarsest filter options, as the range of their Turkish burrs are restricted to between course filter (Chemex etc) and ultra fine covering espresso and Turkish grind. *Available in black or white.

    - VTA-6S - The VTA is a volume industrial grinder that has become hugely popular with speciality coffee roasteries, looking to grind volume coffee for retail or batch brew, but to a high standard.  It comes as a 3-Phase grinder, so needs a dedicated 20 amp supply via a commando socket.  It can grind a KG of espresso in circa 40 seconds. *It  comes only in Black.
